Bridgwater Town 1 Larkhall Athletic 1

REEKO best's 12th goal of the season earned a point for Bridgwater Town in a 1-1 draw with Larkhall at Fairfax Park on Saturday.

On a great spring day, with the sun shining, the pitch looking good and the Bridgwater players in high spirits, the first half was an entertaining one with both sides cursing themselves for missed chances.

Larkhall perhaps had a little more of the ball but were wide of the mark several times and Bridgwater's defence held firm against some good attacking play.

Josh White and Ben Palmer did a great job and recent signing Callum Laird took control at right back.

Jake Viney made a great save when the ball was sent high over him and a quick back pedal saw him get a hand to the ball and quickly drop to the ground to cover it.

It was Larkhall who got the first goal of the afternoon when a wayward shot saw their number ten, Ben Brookes wrong-foot Jake Viney for a 1-0 lead on 34 minutes.

They would have had another within minutes of the restart, had it not been for Josh White and Callum Laird, who pushed the attacker wide.

Bridgwater's first real chance came in the 44th minute when a superb cross from the outside right foiled everyone in the box and had Paul West questioning his side's luck.

To say Bridgwater came out ready to play for the second half would be a understatement and Paul West's words must have been taken on board in the changing room, as it took only a minute for Reeko Best to receive a cross and place a shot across the keeper to get the Robins back on level terms.

A balanced game followed, with Bridgwater looking comfortable.

In the last 15 minutes, Bridgwater looked the most likely team to score, displaying some great football down the right-hand side, with Reeko Best showing a great turn of speed to leave the defenders behind, but unfortunately he ran out of space and the ball went over the line.

The Robins travel to Marlow on Saturday (3pm).
