The Ladies Section at Enmore Park Golf Club last week played golf and bought cakes to raise money for ‘Breast Cancer Now’, the charity which Tina Morgan Lady Captain is passionate  to raise awareness about.

Through her hard work, commitment and working with an excellent support team £600 was raised.

In addition the 18- and 9-hole competitions had many fun activities one of which was to get the golf ball nearest the link if ‘bras’ on the 11th hole. All the donated ‘bras’ are being sent to Africa for women who cannot afford such garments.

The winners of the 18 hole competition were Jo Wyatt, Kay Taylor, Shanni Whisler and Jackie Woodman with 81 points, while the 9-hole winners were Lorna Walker, Paula Travis, Diana Webster, and Suzanne Bromme with 41 points.

The best dressed team consisted of Alison Marchant, Nanette Moore, Alison Greenslade and Anita Leng.

Enmore played host to Mendip in a Ladies Interleague match when the weather was kind and at the end of a really nice game the result was a 4-3 home victory.

Enmore Seniors travelled to play at Long Ashton where they were happy that the forecast of rain proved to be incorrect, but the greens remained fast, and somewhat difficult. The match was all square going into the last two games which unfortunately were lost with an overall score of 4-2 to Long Ashton. The winning Enmore pairs were Vince Coombs with James Veale and Gareth Parsons with Paul Henson. A really good meal followed which was enjoyed by all.

Enmore travelled to Bath GC to play Seniors Somerset Bowl Match where they lost 4 and 1.

Meanwhile Enmore Royals played Honiton in pleasant conditions where the whole team played well with plenty of determination, which resulted in a comprehensive win by four and a half to one and a half.

The final of the Mixed Edward Competition took place between Fiona Ryan and her partner Dan Andison and Joy and Steven MacConnachie at the end of which Joy and Steven won 2 &1. The Club runs an Edward Cup Consolation Competition open to all members and this was won by Tony and Yvonne Deeble with 41 points.

Saturday’s Gents Daniel Cup was won by Andy Merrick with +3, two ahead of David Childs with +1 while Pat Vearncombe was third with 0.

The Seniors Ryder Tankard was won by Rob Brown with 40 points, Tony Seaman was second with 39 one ahead of third placed Tony Deeble.

Thursday’s Club Stableford was won by David Ballantine with 37 points but only after countback edged him in front of Jon Richardson who returned with the same score, while Dan Pester was third on 36.
