Division One South West: Bridgwater United 2-4 AFC Bournemouth

BRIDGWATER United Women lost an high-scoring battle at home at the weekend against AFC Bournemouth Ladies.

The match in the FA Women's National League ended 2-4 in favour of Bournemouth but Bridgwater United put up a good showing.

The result sees Bournemouth sit in second place on the league table, while Bridgwater now are in sixth.

It was an end-to-end game that saw chances come in at both ends frequently but the visitors were able to be slightly more clinical.

The away side opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a well worked attacking move as they were on top in the early exchanges.

Fiona Barry pulled it back level shortly after as Bridgwater snagged a goal against the run of play but this was ruled out by a second for Bournemouth and they went in at half time 1-2 up.

Early in the second half Libby Gimson put Bridgwater back on level terms and it was game on.

However Bournemouth snapped out of the lull they were in and ran in two more goals before full time to seal the win.
