SOMERSET host Cardiff MCCU at Taunton Vale today in their opening home match of the first class season.

Looking forward to Sunday’s game, Matt Maynard the Somerset director of cricket said: “The game against Cardiff will be some more practice for our batsmen, after a tough start up in Durham.

“These sorts of games can be invaluable to us at this stage of the season and we will be putting a strong side out.

“We hope that both Craig and Jamie will be playing for us and getting some good practice. It will be great to see both of them back in the team.”

Both Craig and fit again Jamie Overton are included in the Somerset squad of 13.

The full Somerset squad is: Marcus Trescothick, Tom Abell, Chris Rogers (c), James Hildreth, Jim Allenby, Roelof van der Merwe, Pete Trego, Ryan Davies (wk), Lewis Gregory, Tim Groenewald, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton and Josh Davey.

Entry and car parking at Taunton Vale are free and there are plenty of seats available at the ground.

In addition refreshments will be available and the bar open on Sunday and Tuesday.
