Shirehampton 6 Bridgwater Town Reserves 2

IT was another difficult day for Bridgwater Town Reserves as they eventually lost 6-2 to high-flying Shirehampton.

The game was good evidence of rustiness, lack of continuity and a team that is rebuilding itself in a period of games being postponed every other week.

Manager Dan Wright said: “The score line suggests that we were completely outclassed and against opposition who are leagues above us in quality, which certainly isn’t the case.

“We lost today through a combination of errors across the pitch.

“However these errors are small and easily amended for our next game and the games to follow it.

“Although our performance was littered with defensive errors, we actually created good chances to score more than two goals.

“At 0-0 we’ve squandered a fantastic opportunity to go 1-0 up when the Shirehampton defence tried playing the offside trap which George Sinnott beat.

“Despite a heavy deficit of a score line, we’ve got an enthusiastic dressing room which is raring to amend those errors, improve their individual performances and as a collect this team will continue to collect points and progress in the both cup competitions.”

Town face Chilcompton Sports at home in the Somerset Premier/First Division Cup this Saturday (2pm).
