Gems 44 Vivary 40

GEMS started the second half of the season with a tough game against Vivary from Taunton.

These matches are always close and well fought, and this was no different.

Vivary started the game strongly, and were both quicker and more dominant, putting Gems on the back foot.

Vivary took a three-goal lead whist Gems battled to get back into the game.

Basic errors during the first half did not help, and it was only a positive team talk, and a will to win attitude that brought Gems back into the game.

Great shooting from Justine Pearn and Hannah Clapp brought the game level, and strong defending from Kerry Fellows and Rheanne Lee ensured the game see-sawed, with Vivary taking the lead and Gems levelling.

During the final half of the last quarter, and thanks to solid work in the centre court from Kelly Thorne, Danielle Keirle and Mikki Hole, Gems pulled in front and in an exciting final few minutes, kept the Vivary attack at bay to finish the game 44-40 ahead.
