BRIDGWATER and Albion climbed to the top of South West One West without having to take the field on Saturday, after their opponents Coney Hill were unable to raise a side for their visit to College Way.
Albion were awarded the five points and a home walkover – but, rather unfairly, have not had any additions to their points difference, which remains the same.
They sit two points clear at the top with four wins from four, after previously unbeaten Weston-super-Mare suffered a narrow defeat at Drybrook, who are next up in the league for Albion on October 10.
This weekend sees the start of Albion’s Somerset Cup campaign, with a trip to Western Counties side Keynsham on Saturday.
Keynsham have an identical league record to Albion with four wins from four, having battled to a 27-10 victory over Chosen Hill on Saturday.
Elsewhere, North Petherton will be hoping to kick start their season when they take on Burnham tomorrow night (Wednesday) in round one of the Somerset Cup.
Pethy slumped to a heavy 61-0 defeat at high-flying Thornbury on Saturday to remain without a league win so far this season.
They then travel to unbeaten league new boys Newent on Saturday, who were 19-16 winners at home to Clevedon at the weekend.
