Bridgwater Town Reserves 1, Fry Club 1

BRIDGWATER Town Reserves assistant manager Dan Wright has urged his side to be more clinical, after a late equaliser cost them all three points at home to Fry Club on Saturday.

Alex Male fired Town into a first-half lead, but after Gary Saunders was shown a straight red card with 14 minutes remaining, the visitors levelled the scores in the dying minutes to deny the hosts all three points and leave Wright to rue a number of missed chances.

“The result was certainly disappointing having dominated against one of the better teams in this league,” said Wright.

“Although the red card hasn’t done us any favours in achieving three points this afternoon, we have to score the chances we created.

“Games of football are not remembered on ifs and buts - we need to learn to become more clinical and punish teams when we are on top.”

Alex Male powered home to make it 1-0 to the hosts midway through the first-half – and despite the onslaught of pressure, Fry were fortunate not to concede more with Town failing to capitalise on numerous goal scoring opportunities.

Fry began the second-half much brighter, but Town hit the post twice through Chris Young after excellent service from 17-year-old Charlie White. The home side then had a goal ruled out for offside, before a moment of madness saw Gary Saunders receive a straight red card with 14 minutes left to play.

Town still created chances and looked like scoring every time they went forward, but were still denied that second goal which would have won the game.

With two minutes left to play, a cross from the right hand side was headed into the top corner to deny Town a deserved three points.

Bridgwater Town Reserves are without a fixture this weekend but make the short trip to Berrow on September 26.
