DANIEL Cowen shot an impressive 44 points individually to convincingly win the Perry Cup at Enmore Park, with playing partners David Cowen and Mike Perry on 84 points (pictured).

The format is the junior score plus the best adult on each hole to count.

Runners-up were Alex Hill, Martyn Hill and Peter Ison on 75 with third place going to Bradley Malone, Jack Dray and Anne Perryon on 73.

Matt Ison also scored 39 points individually on the day but his playing partners couldn't produce the goods

This week's club day format was best two scores to count on par fours and fives, with the best three to count on par threes.

Leading the way on a score of nine under (89 points) was the quartet of D Read, H Neal, P Lyster and B Ochman.

They beat runners-up A Atkinson, K Hooper and P Binding by just one point.

The Nigel Wixon Ruby Trophy was played last week with a large entry of both men and women.

Matt's son Craig Lazenby continued his excellent form winning the Trophy with 41 points with a better back nine than three other competitors.

His handicap is now three - it was seven last April.

Craig’s score also claimed Division One honours, beating Derek Bremner on a back nine countback, with two other golfers following one shot further back.

Division Two was won by David Selway with 41 points, one ahead of Michael Taylor in second.

Pete Prior finished third with a very solid 39 points.

In the ladies event, Melanie Millar won the day with her 41 points, two ahead of Joanne Wyatt in second.

Jill Simpson finished in third with 37 points.

Enmore Park Seniors held their Open competition on a sparkling summer's day, with 180 competitors from clubs around the West Country.

On a course in splendid condition the anticipated good scoring did not disappoint.

In Division One (handicaps 0-14) Mike Metcalfe (8) from Wells took the honours with 44 points

In Division Two ( handicaps 15-19) Tim Wilson (18) from Long Ashton won with 47 points – while in Division Three (handicaps 20-24+) Roger Anniss (21) from Enmore Park was the winner with 41 points.

On the blistering hot last day of June Enmore Park Seniors travelled to the Long Sutton club.

The whitewash was avoided only by two pairings gaining half points from their matches, namely captain Mike Perry with Jim McGuckin and David Taylor - with Peter Sherry leaving the final score seven matches to one in the hosts favour.

Enmore juniors won the Junior Jamboree on July 5 at Long Sutton.

Captain for the day and top scorer overall in windy conditions, was Jake Bovington with 34 points.

Bradley Malone scored 31, Matt Ison 29, and Dan Cowen 23, as they won by nine points.

The ladies nine-hole qualifier was won by Pat Hill with 17 points, two ahead of Sally Hale in second.
