SOMERSET all-rounder Craig Overton has been penalised by the ECB for a level two breach of discipline, relating to an incident during last week’s LV County Championship defeat to Worcestershire.
Overton has been issued with a three-point penalty under the ECB’s discipline code for ‘inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players in the course of play’.
An ECB statement said: “Overton was reported by umpires Michael Gough and Russell Evans during Somerset’s LV= County Championship match against Worcestershire between May 3 and 5, 2015, for a Level Two breach of the code (inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players in the course of play).
“The penalty for this offence is three penalty points.
“These penalties will remain on their records for a period of two years and the accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two year period will result in an automatic suspension.”
