Wembdon 254-8 beat Street 206 by 48 runs

HALF-centuries from Tom Lott and Jonathan Brockwell helped Wembdon make it two wins out of two with victory away to Street on Saturday.

Losing the toss Wembdon were asked to bat first on a decent looking wicket giving the poor weather in the preceding week.

The new partnership of Gower and Lott were untroubled early on and the latter continued his fine form despatching the Street opening bowlers to the boundary on several occasions in the early overs.

Lott, still going well, was joined by Jon Brockwell and the pair added 50 to take the score to 100-2 off 20 overs.

Lott reached his half century for the second week running, but was out shortly after.

Brockwell batted on and reached a solid half-century and looked to up the scoring rate.

He struck two big sixes but was well caught going for a third.

Wembdon went on to reach 254-8 off the allotted 50 overs.

In reply the Street innings started in the worst possible way with Bingham dismissing Linter second ball.

Both bowlers were replaced by Brockwell and Phillips this has the desired effect as Phillips picked up the wicket of Bisgrove, while Brockwell removed Hill (45).

A stand of 83 for the fifth wicket took Street to 159 and left Wembdon without a wicket for 15 overs.

The re-introduction of opening bowlers Marrs and Bingham brought the required wickets and in quick fashion – and with the tail exposed Wembdon ran through the lower order as Street lost their last five wickets for just 16 runs and were dismissed for 206 in the 46th over.

Wembdon host North Perrott next Saturday (1pm).
