BRIDGWATER swimmers put in impressive performances at the Somerset ASA County Championships last weekend at Millfield School in Street.

Every Bridgwater competitor achieved personal best times in at least one event they competed in, showing that all the hard work they have put into training is paying off.

Bridgwater’s highest-placed swimmer, Storm Munday, came away with two bronze medals and silver, an outstanding result at his first county championships.

Rich Hill qualified for four finals and Alex Towells made one. All the finals were extremely close – some places were separated by less than one tenth of a second.

Rich and Alex also qualified for the ASA South West regional championships later this year, which will see them race against swimmers from six counties across South- West England.

Head coach Ricky Hayes said: “I’m delighted with all the swimmers’ performances at this year’s county championships – it’s great to watch them compete and set lifetime best times.”
