Wembdon Saints 2, Bishops Lydeard 1

WEMBDON saved their best for the last game of the season, with relegation hanging over this result for either side.

It was Wembdon who took the points in a hard fought game.

They got off to the worse possible start going a goal behind from a corner which was tapped in from within the six yard box as Wembdon failed to clear their lines.

The early setback didn’t have any effect to the style of play for the reminder of the first half as Wembdon probed for the equaliser.

Will Andrews and Kieran Barrow were very lively up front and well supported in midfield from Joe Redman Alex Stevens and Kristian West.

Joe Redman started the fight back with a good finish from within the penalty box following a period of pressure from Wembdon.

Wembdon continued to create chances and soon got their second from Kristian West who followed up a strike which had hit the post.

Bishops Lydeard created several good chances of their own but strong defending and good handling from the keeper kept Wembdon in front.
