Gems 44, Hovelands 47

GEMS had a two-goal lead at the end of the first quarter and continued to have the advantage but during the latter part of the second quarter, Hovelands gained more confidence and pulled back to level the score.

The third quarter ended with Gems one goal behind, but they made too many errors in the final quarter and allowed Hovelands to move ahead.

The last part of the match was a possession game and despite everyone giving 100%, it was not possible pull back and at the final whistle Gems were just 3 goals behind.

Gems meet Hovelands again on March 21 in the knock-out cup final.

Rubies 23, Parkfield 30

RUBIES took a 9-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but a slow start to the second quarter let Parkfield into the game.

Some lovely centre court movement by Grace Morris (WD), Kirsty Richards (C) and Hannah Wallis (WA) allowed Rubies to get the ball into the accurate shooters Steph Riordan (GA) and Michelle Parr (GS).

The quarter ended 12-17 to Parkfield.

Sandy Hocking (GK) and Rheanne Lee (GD) kept the game a low-scoring one with many impressive rebounds and interceptions, the quarter finishing 17-23.

Holding possession of the ball and overall quality of the game was superb, although wasn't completely reflected in the final score, 23-30 to Parkfield.

Player's players were voted as Kirsty Richards and Sandy Hocking. Rubies sponsored by EDF.
