GEMS booked their place in the final of the Knock-out Cup with a battling victory over Babylon on Saturday.
Both teams started strong and within the first five minutes of this semi-final, Gems knew they had a tough game on their hands.
Babylon were strong, accurate and determined from the start, whilst Gems took a while to settle – the first quarter ended 10-9 to the away team.
Into the second quarter and Gems had certainly woken up - fantastic defending from Beth Fella and Kerry Fellows, turning over numerous amounts of balls giving gems attack the chance to level the score.
Hannah Clapp and Justine Pearn had their work cut out in the shooting circle this weekend, extremely tight defending from the Babylon defence made it incredibly difficult for the shooters to gain space - however they did not give up and managed to get the goals as the second quarter finished 20-18 to Gems.
In the third and fourth quarters, Gems really found their fight and did everything they could to make the final - Amy Whitcombe and Kelly Thorne linked well in the centre third and Danni Keirle was feeding well into the circle.
Players of the match were Danni Keirle, Kelly Thorne and Kerry Fellows. Umpires vote went to Danni Keirle.
