Bridgwater 5XI 0, East Devon 4XI 8
A YOUNG and inexperienced Bridgwater side suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of East Devon on Saturday.
In truth despite their young age, East Devon were better than Bridgwater and it was always going to be a 'try to nick-a-goal' exercise.
But Bridgwater held firm for 10 minutes, with the ever impressive Alex Howe playing well alongside Tom Syvret, Steve Morrish and Lewis Coad, but two quick goals helped establish East Devon’s strong position.
In truth it was like Mark Hutter was at the Alamo, he kept Bridgwater in a strong position until East Devon got two more goals before half time.
Despite not seeing much of the ball up top Dave Dosson, Sam Sweatman, James Salts, Will Kelly and Connor Gillespie all came back to defend - and when they did break, they nearly created.
The second half started poorly as East Devon got two very early goals – and they later put two more past a tired defence.
Despite the score several players can leave with their heads held high, Alex Howe who played admirably in the centre of defence and Man of the Match Connor Gillespie.
