WEST Somerset will be hosting two major sporting occasions in March - both involving Somerset’s 2015 beneficiary Pete Trego.

On the evening of Friday, March 20, Trego will be linking up with former England and Bath rugby union star Nigel Redman for a Sportsman’s Dinner at Minehead Barbarians Rugby Club.

Both players, who have long and successful careers in their respective sports, will talk about some of their experiences and then take part in a question and answer session.

This event is being promoted by Minehead Barbarians Past Players Association and the newly-formed Minehead Cricket Club Past Players Association and will be the first of several fund-raising events during Minehead CC's 150th anniversary season.

Tickets are still available costing £35 per person or £350 for a table of ten and can be obtained from Stuart Tudball on 07926-186690.

The funds raised from the evening will go towards supporting the junior sections of both Minehead cricket and Minehead Barbarians.

The following day, Saturday March 21, a Golf Day will be taking place at Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club that will involve Trego and a number of the other Somerset CCC players, including new signing Jim Allenby.

The competition will be a Stableford format, will cost £100 per team of four, and is open to both men and ladies.

There will be a half way refreshment stop and a presentation afterwards.

Tee times start from 7.30am with a maximum of 36 teams able to take part so space is strictly limited.

Teams can also bid to have Trego as part of their group or to play with one of the Somerset players.

To find out more or to book a tee time please call Steve Archer on 01643-702057 or email him on stevearchermwsgc@gmail.com Funds raised from this event will go towards Minehead CC’s new outdoor nets and Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club’s new training facility that will benefit both junior and senior members.
