Weston 2XI 3, Bridgwater 5XI 3
BRIDGWATER V kicked off 2015 with an eventful draw on Saturday.
Connor Gillespie scored twice for Bridgwater in the first-half and Baldwin added a third but the visitors were forced to settle for a draw.
A smooth move that included John Brockwell and Alex Ward finished with Jack Dillon, who won a short corner.
Gillespie passed to Kev Hicks, who put the ball towards goal and Gillespie finished with a fine sweep.
This shocked Weston who replied almost immediately with a short corner of their own, their striker flicking the ball into the top corner.
Minutes later Weston took the lead – a solid short corner strike finding its way through the defence.
Another short corner routine led to the next goal – Kettlewell’s flick was saved but Gillespie was on hand to make it 2-2.
Weston yet again answered with a short corner strike of their own but minutes before half-time Bridgwater had another short corner which Baldwin expertly buried, despite it only just crossing the line.
In the second-half Weston came close on several occasions and a short corner flick was saved off the line with a superb pull shot.
Dillon continued to be a threat but Hicks and Stone made key challenges and Ward ran the middle of the pitch, helping keep the scores even.
