Bridgwater & Albion II 50, Old Sulians 10
BRIDGWATER & Albion II cruised to an emphatic victory over Old Sulians on Saturday.
Bridgwater opened their account shortly after kick off – a line-out in the corner presented a brilliant opportunity for a driving maul and Bridgwater did not disappoint.
Scott Woolford was the man chosen to safely escort the ball over the line for the first points of the afternoon.
Full back John Hill (snr) was rewarded in one of his many breaks with a brilliant try which saw him carry the ball from inside his own half.
Old Sulians managed to score points of their own after Bridgwater were penalised for not releasing the ball in the ruck.
Centre Charlie Johnson scored out wide – and shortly after the break, Sulians scored their first and only try.
Further strong running from Johnson saw him break from his own half and beat the Sulians’ full back.
He ran out of steam about 30 metres from the line but James Brakes was in great support to receive the simple pass and beat the covering winger to the corner.
Olly Steward dropped down to score out wide following a scrum, before Norman crashed over the line near the posts for another try.
Joe Stradling scored the final try of the game to make the final result 50-10.
The bonus point win solidifies Bridgwater’s position in third place in the league, leaving them nine points clear of fourth-placed Bristol Barbarians and seven points behind second-placed Hornets II.
Next week the Bridgwater & Albion II travel to Castle Cary.
