Calor League Division One South & West
Bridgwater Town 0, Tiverton Town 0
A LAST-ditch tackle from Tiverton Town's Jake Wannell denied Tom Knighton a certain winner late on in Saturday's derby stalemate.
In a game played on a heavy pitch and in strong winds at Fairfax Park, neither side was able to break the deadlock with both keepers making a string of saves.
Tiverton started the stronger of the two sides, but Bridgwater's back-four - featuring the returning Nathan Rudge - held firm, with Alex Grimshaw another to impress.
Jimmy Hinds went closest to opening the scoring for the visitors when left unmarked in the penalty area - but his free header went straight at Ben John in the Bridgwater goal.
The second-half was an even affair, as neither side was able to make any headway.
As the game reached its closing stages, Wannell's expertly timed tackle denied Knighton a glorious chance to win the game for his side.
Knighton went close again with a long range effort with minutes remaining, but his shot drifted over the bar to signal the end of a goalless encounter.
