MARKET A’s home undefeated record came under pressure against the Bridgwater Town Ladies’ Skittles League Division 1 leaders but they pulled 31 pins in the first five hands and hung on for victory.

Visitors Castle Club A finished the game with hands of 64 and 68 to pull 26 but it was not quite good enough as they lost the match by five.

The return game will be the last game of the season and may well decide who wins the title.

High scores in the game came from Castle Club’s Mel Harris (71) and Marie Parr (64) for the Market.

The other joint leaders, Blake Hall A, 13 down after the first han,d pulled five on the last hand to run out winners by two at home to to Crown Inn A.

Three points is all that separates the top three teams in Division 2, while bottom side Lions Club A are now six points adrift.

New Foresters A are Division 3 leaders by a point from West India House, who are three points clear of thirdplaced Sydenham Centre B who lost at Blake Arms by 48.

The two new sides, Rugby Club and the Malt Shovel, are now three points adrift of Bridgwater Squib B, third from bottom.

With half of the season gone, there is still a lot to play for.
