Sydenham Rubies 31, Tone 55

RUBIES went down to Tone, despite going ahead early on.

First quarter started positive with accurate passing from Kerry Clark and Hannah Wallis in centre court.

Despite accurate shooting from Michelle Parr and Steph Riordan, Tone managed to pull away, leading 46-22 at the end of third quarter.

In the last quarter, Rheanne Lee and Megan Buller were on top form in the defensive circle with player-of-the-match Sammie Brown keeping the players out of the circle.

Emeralds 9, Monmouth 71

EMERALDS played Monmouth at Sydenham on Saturday and they knew it was going to be a difficult game.

A few good interceptions were made by Emeralds defence and they managed to regain some possession.

The attack worked well feeding into the circle and they also had good centre court play.

But Monmouth were too strong and gained possession too many times.

l Sapphires took on Taunton rivals Hovelands for the second week in a row.

Sapphires headed into the court in high spirits and some great court play from Carly Martin, Katie ball and Mikki Hole, Sapphires came off trailing but fighting hard.

Continued efforts in the defensive end from Rheanne Lee and Laura Coombes turned over some balls, but Hovelands shooting was very accurate so Sapphires continued to trail.

l Gems started strong against a Taunton side Vivary, with the game going goal for goal.

Going into the second quarter, Gems worked tirelessly hard which allowed them to turn over Vivary’s centre passes and retrieve vital rebounds.

Overall, Gems went out hard and deserved the win.
