ANCHORWOMAN Jenny Whitcombe hit 73 for Blake Hall A to move them joint top of Division 1 of the Bridgwater Town Ladies Skittles League with a comfortable home win over Market D by 35 pins.

The other joint leaders, Castle Club A, won easily away to the Bunch Of Grapes A by 36 pins.

At the other end of the table, second from bottom Sydenham Centre A won at home by 19 pins over bottom placed Blake Hall B, who have yet to win a game.

On target were Vi Bonny and Janice Cook, both with 64 for the Centre, and Pat Cameran, anchor for the Blake, with 65 pins.

In Division 2, Commercial Inn B continuee their climb out of the relegation zone with a 25-pin away victory over Castle Club B.

Star for the Inn was Helen Stepney with 72, while top for the Castle was Rita Day who hit 65.

Lions Club B are joint top of the division with Bunch of Grapes B, and both had easy wins over teams in the lower part of the table.

Third-placed British Flag A had a shaky start, but kept up their early season impressive form to run out winners by 22 pins at home to mid-table Cross Rifles B.

Two teams are tied top of Division 3 – West India House A, who won by 36 pins away to Malt Shovel B, one of the new teams in the league, and New Foresters A, who had an easy away victory by 24 pins over the other new side, The Rugby Club.

High scores, both for the Foresters B, came from Snook 68 and H.
