Bridgwater College Rugby 39, Weston College 12
TEAM BC rugby played their first match in six weeks and came out convincing winners against a spirited St. Brendans side.
Bridgwater started really well and played with high tempo and drove deep into the opposition half.
After a number of sustained attacks captain Will Astill broke through the defensive line to go under the posts, the centre converted his own try.
From the restart Bridgwater regained possession and continued on the attack with strong ball carrying from the forwards, this resulted with Jordan Day crashing over near the posts, the kick was unconverted.
St Brendan’s then slowly got themselves into the game by being aggressive in the tackle area and made Bridgwater work hard in defence, but after a number of offences by the home team, the visitors responded with a try in the corner.
This made Team BC go up through the gears and Scott Franklin dived over before half time to make the score 17-5 and the interval.
Bridgwater started the second half with the same attacking intent as the first and mounted strong attacks with wave of strong ball carries, this released Lewis Allen to sprint over.
Bridgwater kept on the attack for the remainder of the second half scoring three more tries through Astill, Sam Hartshorne and Andrew Alred.
To their credit St Brendans kept working hard throughout the game and were rewarded with try on the final play of the game.
Team BC are in action against Hartpury College next week, at home.
