Bridgwater Jupiter 49, Team Bath 37

JUPITER pulled off a superb result to go to the top of the table as they beat Team Bath by 12 points on Sunday.

With both teams undefeated and joint top of the league, this match was going to be intense.

Jupiter went out all guns blazing with the whole team proving a point as to why they were top of the league, ensuring a good ten-goal lead at the end of the first quarter, 16-6.

Knowing now all they had to do was maintain the lead, Amy Shaw made some precise feeds in to Jupiter’s attacking circle, allowing the scoreline and lead to stay the same with the second quarter ending 26-16.

With great communication skills and interceptions from captain and player of the match Baylea Charles and pressure on the defensive circle from Sammie Woolacott forced team bath to make mistakes and allowed Jupiter to run away with a massive win.

Neptune 31, Tone 48

NEPTUNE slipped to a 17-point defeat to Tone at the weekend, as they struggled to get going in the first quarter.

Some strong shooting from Morganne Dunn and Kayleigh Haste saw a better second quarter – before tireless defending in the circle and interceptions from player of the match Emma Reynolds saw Neptune win the third quarter bringing the difference down to within 10, but Tone proved too strong and pulled away in the last quarter.

Venus 30, Monmouth 46

A SLOW start saw Venus slump to defeat against Monmouth.

In a vastly-improved second quarter, newly-promoted centre Olivia Shorthouse, justified her player-of-the-match title, turning over the ball in defence and applying a deft touch when feeding the shooters.

Pressure from Mary King (WD) gave Venus the opportunity to square the score but chances slipped through the team’s fingers.

The final quarter was much of the same and the final score was an accurate reflection of the game.

Mars 27, Reckleford 31

MARS were slow to start the first quarter of the game and Reckleford took full advantage of this by taking an early lead 4-10.

Despite their best efforts, Mars trailed 21-11 at the end of the second quarter.

The experience of play within the centre court from Elaine Bartlett (C) and Lucy Kyte (Wa) enabled a smooth passage for the ball to travel into the shooters, this allowed Mars to get within four goals of the lead, the score at the end of the third quarter was 21-25.

Mars continued in their strength of play and their want for a win, but the final score saw a four-point defeat.
