Wembdon Saints 2, Wembdon Dragons 0

FOR the second time this season Saints took the bragging rights, starting brighter, using the slope and keeping the Dragons on the back foot.

Keiran Barrow, who had an excellent game in midfield, kept the dangerous Robert Whithouse quiet and won plenty of headers.

The lively pairing of Will Andrews and Brandon Cook were always a threat to the Dragons defence, and only good defending from Jack Williams and Robin Smith prevented an early goal for Saints.

Captain Andrews opened the scoring from inside the box, giving Saints a platform.

Dragons created a couple of chances later in the first half with one hitting the bar from a parried save from Dan James in the Saints goal.

Saints extended their lead in the last few minutes of the half when the lively Cook shot from the edge of the box.

Dragons started the second half much stronger and put the Saints under pressure.

The dangerous Griffin up front had limited chances, well marshalled by the outstanding Alex Stevens in the heart of the Saints defence, well supported by Ben Cotton and Joe Redman.

Saints created several further chances to extend their lead with Kristian West at the heart of things down the left.

Alfie Griffin had a couple of good opportunities late on, but an outstanding save with his leg from Dan James prevented a nervous end to the game
