Bridgwater Town Reserves 1, Watchet Town 1

A SECOND half equaliser from 16-year-old Charlie White secured a point for Town on Saturday and extended their unbeaten run to six games.

White headed home Chris Young’s pinpoint cross just a minute after Zak Ryder had given the visitors the lead.

There was little to separate the sides in the opening exchanges with Bridgwater shading territory and possession, but failing to create many clear chances.

Ten minutes in, Bridgwater seemed to break the deadlock when a John Matthews free kick was headed in by Callum Laird, but the full-back’s header was ruled out for offside.

Shortly after, Watchet went close to opening the scoring when Tyne Govier’s pass was intercepted, but the Watchet striker’s finish went wide of the near post.

Josh Hayward in the Bridgwater goal had to be alert on 20 minutes to make a smart save from a powerful shot from the edge of the box.

The second half started in a similar vein, but Watchet took the lead after lively striker Zak Ryder was adjudged not to be offside and he coolly slotted past Hayward when one-on-one.

Falling behind seemed to rally Bridgwater, and they were deservedly level a minute later after an excellent cross by Chris Young allowed young White to head home from close range.

Bridgwater kept up the momentum in the remaining moments of the game, and Ellis Harper was unlucky not to seal all three points for them after his rasping long range drive was well saved by the visiting goalkeeper.
