MIDDLEZOY Rovers Reserves crashed out of the Somerset Junior Cup at the first round stage following a 7-1 thrashing at Shepton Beauchamp.

This followed a 3-2 midweek reverse at North Petherton in the league knockout cup.

Petherton scored an early penalty through Dan Roberts after Nick Richards was brought down.

Middlezoy then equalised with a James Hatch goal - but an under strength Pethy hit back with a Nick Richards strike 10 minutes before half time.

An organized Pethy then restricted 'Zoy to half chances before Dan Roberts scored 15 minutes from time with a superb 25 yard free kick - Rob White of Rovers scored with the last kick of the game.

Locomotives got through against Stanton Drew but they had to go to penalties to secure the win after two hours of stalemate.

Bridgwater Wolves beat East Bower 5-2 in the Rowbarton Charity Cup, thanks to two goals from Brad Walford, and one each from Ashley Mills, Charlie Hill and Jake Sharman - replying for East Bower were Mike Watts and Jamie Day.

Highbridge Reserves did well to hold Porlock to just a 1-0 victory, their goal scored by Adam Langdon.

The Gallery Reserves arr through to the next round of the Seward Cup after a convincing 9-2 win over Norton Fitzwarren Reserves, with Cameron Robilliard enjoying his game with five goals.

Brad Hayes scored three and Jack Griffiths added the ninth.

In league action, Bridgwater Sports beat newly promoted Wyvern Rangers 4-1 in Division One, with Louis Murrell scoring the consolation goal for Rangers.

Paul Organ hit a hat trick for Sports and Mathew Stephenson added the other.

Elsewhere in the division, North Petherton lost a ten-goal thriller 6-4 to Tone Youth.

In Division Two, Alcombe Rovers and Stogursey shared the points in a 1-1 draw - Grant Hodgson was on target for Rovers and Tom Andrew for Stogursey.

Morganians had a bare eleven against Dulverton with their manager playing in goal - eventually going down 2-0.

Sydenham Rangers came out as winners against local rival Redgate with a 3-2 victory in Division Three, with Cam Wilkinson, Luke Taylor and Jake Adey all scoring for Rangers.

In Division Four, Creech Cougars made it two wins from their two opening games with a 2-0 triumph against North Petherton Reserves thanks to goals from Michael Burley and Marcus Barter - while Ash Rangers beat Bridgwater Grasshoppers by the odd goal in seven.

Rangers were never behind but they couldn't extend their lead with Hoppers coming back to level things up three times, before Ash secured the three points in the last minute.

Callum Hardy scored twice for Ash, Harvey Puddy and Aaron Burge the other two - Dan Saunders got a pair for the Bridgwater side and Rob Adams got the third.

It was a great game at Middlezoy where their Athletic drew 3-3 with Galmington Dragons Reserves - and in Division Five, Morganians Reserves were thrashed 6-1 by North Curry.

Bridgwater Sports Colts went down 2-0 to Fivehead.
