Taunton Youth League Under 12, Division One

Tone Youth under 12 Wasps 3, Wembdon Youth under 12 Dragons 2

WEMBDON started their first game of the new season brightly with Marcus Sewell going close inside the first minute - but Tone Youth quickly took control with prolonged pressure forcing a number of good saves by Travis Moore to keep the scores level.

Whilst Wembdon had gone close with shots from Alfie Griffin and Will Stokes it was against the run of play when they took the lead through last year’s top scorer Alfie Griffin, after some excellent pressure in midfield by Lewis Baker on 24 minutes.

Tone Youth reacted well to going behind and forced another great save from Travis Moore before some fantastic pressure through the middle from Jack Williams saw him one on one with the keeper and scoring Wembdon’s second just before half time.

The second half started well for Wembdon with a long range shot from Lewis Baker and Will Stokes going close from a corner but despite some battling midfield play from Marcus Sewell and Robert Fieldhouse Tone Youth were the stronger team and went close after forcing mistakes in the Wembdon defenc,e before scoring their first goal 10 minutes after kick off and equalising eight minutes later.

Dragons heads’ then dropped and the inevitable winner came with Tone Youth going straight down the middle of the pitch with just five minutes left, to record the win and show Dragons that they cannot afford not to play well for the full 60 minutes in this, their first season in Division One.
