STEVE Pigden’s first third team century helped Wembdon to their second victory of the season in Division 7 with a 165-run triumph over Glastonbury III.

Pigden’s knock fired Wembdon to 300-2 batting first with half-centuries from Andy Holliday (59), A. Rees (55) and B. Stone (52).

In reply, Glastonbury were 135 all out – D. Watts was the pick of the Wembdon bowlers with 4-26.

In Division 1, Bridgwater A beat Purnells by 71 runs thanks to 52 from Tim Hill.

Dan Rossiter added 40 as Bridgwater were all out for 193 before Mike Skidmore (3-25) and Josh Horler (3-27) ran through Purnells to bowl them out for 122.

North Newton slumped to a heavy eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Castle Cary in Division 2.

Batting first, Newton were shot out for just 97, and Cary raced to their target for the loss of just one wicket.

Elsewhere in the division, Kilve beat Belvedere by five wickets as they chased down 200 to win.

J. Payne took 3-38 to help dismiss Belvedere inside 45 overs and then scored a patient 45 to guide Kilve home.

In Division 5, Mark fell well short against East Huntspill to lose by 108 runs.

Tim Moxey scored 56 for Mark, but they never looked like reaching the target of 241.

S. Prior (4-63) was the pick of the Mark bowlers.

Chilton Polden lost by six wickets at Taunton Deane Cavaliers in Division 6 as they could only muster 102 batting first.

R. Edwards (2-17) and J. Hedges (2-38) took two wickets apiece, but Deane cruised to the win for the loss of four wickets.

Bridgwater Sports had something of an armchair ride in Division 8 South, bowling East Huntspill II out for just 30.

B. Winter (4-17) and P. Winter (4-12) ensured a very early finish for Sports.

T. Everett scored 78 as North Petherton II beat Wembdon Academy by five wickets.

K. Futcher top scored for Wembdon with 86 not out as they posted 194-9 with Chad Lowrie taking 6-54, but Everett was the match winner as he ensured the points would be heading Pethy’s way.

Middlezoy II were comfortable victors at home to Chilton Polden with a 188-run win.

A. Campbell (60) and Grant Purchase (59) registered half-centuries to help Zoy amass 276-6, and in reply Chilton were skittled out for 98.
