WEPL Bristol & Somerset Second XI
Wembdon II 210 lost to Minehead II 229-6 by 19 runs
A LATE fightback wasn’t quite enough to prevent Wembdon II from slipping to a 19-run reverse at Minehead on Saturday.
Chasing 230 to win, Wembdon’s top and middle order was blown away by the Minehead seamers, but Mike Watts (39) and Michael Parker (43) turned the tide with impressive contributions.
But when the pair were both dismissed in quick succession, Wembdon were right up against it – and Alastair Cook’s dismissal ensured defeat for Wembdon.
Earlier, Minehead’s Jason Abbott (141no) struck a superb unbeaten century to propel his side to 229-6, with no other batsman reaching 20.
Kieran Cosens (3-20) and Cook (2-35) were the pick of the Wembdon bowlers.
