MARC Troman fell five short of a century as Middlezoy thrashed North Curry by 89 runs in Division One of the Somerset Cricket League.

Troman (95), N Barnard (52) and G Musgrave (56) all impressed with the bat to help Middlezoy to 255-5 batting first, before A Raja (5-32) ran through the Curry line-up, as they were bowled out for 166 - N Barnard also chipped in with 3-54.

Elsewhere in Division One, Bridgwater A slipped to 58-run defeat to league leaders North Perrott.

Chasing 242 to win, Bridgwater finished up 183-9, with A Hewson (73) and D Hallaran (38) top scoring.

Earlier, L Stephenson (3-51) and Dan Rossiter (3-68) took three wickets apiece, but Perrott amassed an imposing total.

In Division Two, North Newton beat Cheddar by 57 runs thanks to a half century from A White.

White struck 67 to help North Newton to 191-8 batting first, before M Barham (4-25) and P Jenkins (3-26) combined to roll Cheddar for just 134.

Kilve slumped to a disappointing nine-wicket defeat to Huish & Langport, despite 60 from A Martin.

Kilve set Huish 200 to win from their 45 overs, but it proved to be little trouble for them, as they cruised to a nine-wicket victory, courtesy of a stunning century from M Skeet (124no).

In Division Seven, Wembdon Wyverns fell 19 runs short at high-flying Winscombe, despite strong efforts from S Pigden (64) and G Lowe (54).

In pursuit of an impressive 266-5, Wembdon could only muster 247-5 to fall narrowly short.

J Lowe (3-60) had been the pick of the Wembdon bowlers.

Spaxton were just nine runs short of victory at Watchet in Division Eight South, as they were all out for 217, in pursuit of 226-7.

N Davey (74) and D Court (53) both impressed with the bat, but their efforts were in vain as neither could see their side over the line.

T Smith returned impressive figures of 6-14 as North Petherton crushed Belvedere by 197 runs.

Smith worked his way through the Belvedere batsman as they were all out for just 38.

Fifties from A Harding (61), S Briffet (51) and T Everett (51) had earlier carried Pethy to 235-8, before Smith sealed the deal.

Elsewhere in the division, Wembdon Academy crept to a one wicket victory over Wellington III, chasing down 170 - and Middlezoy II cruised to a seven wicket triumph at East Huntspill, thanks to an unbeaten 60 from J Gray.
