A TEAM of cricketing stars is coming to Wembdon this Summer for a T20 match that is sure to be a hit with local cricket fans.

Wembdon Cricket Club will play a T20 cricket match against Lashings World XI on Friday June 14 at The Green, Wembdon.

The Lashings World XI for this match features well known former Somerset players Andy Caddick, James Hildreth, and Charl Willoughby.

It also has former England players Chris Schofield, Owais Shah, Martin Bicknell, John Emburey.

AND international stars Mohammad Ashraful, Yasir Arafat, Saqlain Mushtaq, Curtley Ambrose and Courtney Walsh.

Wicketkeeper for the day will be Love Island star Hugo Hammond, while David Smith is team manager, Sir Gordon Greenidge from the West Indies is Team Ambassador and Henry Blofeld  will be commentator for the match.

Lashings World XI began in 1984 as a pub team in Kent and has evolved into a phenomenal institution which takes international cricket stars around Britain to raise money for local cricket.

The Lashings stars will put on a coaching session for invited junior cricketers at 11.00 in the morning which will then be followed by a lunch at 12.30 for guests who have booked.

Gates will open for public admission at 14.00 in the afternoon and before the match starts at 16.00, there will be an auction to raise more money for charity and the cricket club.

Following the match there will be a party with live music and a hog roast at the club house.

There are still a few places available for a three course lunch with wine in the company of the Lashings players in the marquee at 12.30.

You can either book a table for 9 or 10 people at a cost between £750 and £3000 (the more expensive tables for 9 people include a champagne reception and/or a Lashings player at your table) or individual tickets are available at £75 each.
