GOLF Clubs across the UK work hard to raise funds for national and local charities which makes a difference in people's lives and Enmore Park Golf Club is no exception.

Over the last 10 years, Members, and their friends and families at Enmore have given generously raising between £5-10k each year, to support numerous activities throughout the golfing year, totalling more than £50k.

Last year the Club Captain Gwen Cavill and Lady Captain Jo Wyatt joined forces and raised over £10k for their chosen charities.

Enmore Park Golf Club offers more than giving men, women, and families the opportunity to play golf; it takes a moral stance to support charitable organisations.

For 2023 the Club Captain Gwen Cavill and Lady Captain Jo Wyatt joined forces and raised over £10k to support the following charities:

Promiseworks - A local charity making a big difference in Somerset.

Offering mentoring services to disadvantaged children across the Bridgwater and Taunton areas.

The Trussell Trust Bridgwater and Taunton Food-banks- Working to stop UK hunger and poverty by supporting the Bridgwater and Taunton Food Banks.

Gwen and Jo also wanted to support young people to participate in golf, so they donated £600 to support these developments.

“We raised an amazing £10,700.44 thanks to the generosity of members, friends and families,” the two captains said.

Sarah  Taylor and Christell Charles, from PROMISEworks said: “ "It has been a pleasure to partner with Enmore this year and we particularly enjoyed working alongside Gwen Cavill Club Captain 2023, who had a genuine interest in the charity.  The team at Enmore Park GC worked hard to promote the charity and we were invited to events throughout the year. We were delighted with the amount raised which reflected the efforts of everyone involved"  Sarah  Taylor & Christell Charles, PROMISEworks.

Phil Jarman from the Bridgwater Foodbank said: “The ’Bridgwater Foodbank having received a substantial donation from the Enmore Park Golf Club has enabled us to purchase food items that we are in need of.

Since the start of January 2024, we been able to support over 2000 people with not only food, but we have also been able to signpost clients to other agencies for ongoing support.”

The cheque presentations were made last weekend by Club Captain Gwen Cavill who handed over £10,643.44p to the charities.

This year Club Captain Rhys Morgan, Lady Captain Tina Morgan and Seniors Captain Chris Willsteed are working together to support the Club’s charity for 2024 ‘Friends of Young Carers’.

Meanwhile the first mixed competition of the season took place last Sunday. At the end of the Texas scramble the scores were very close but the winners on count back were Lorraine Taylor, Pip Millar, Kevin Ainsley and Rob Chilcott.
