A MAN born in Bridgwater has been making waves in the online makeup industry, building up a huge fanbase and creating his own website.
Wayne Goss has over four million subscribers to his YouTube channel, which he first started in his twenties to post makeup tutorial videos - he also has almost 700,000 Instagram followers.
He now uses his YouTube channel to teach people how to use makeup to its advantages, with the idea that ‘make-up isn’t supposed to be seen’, and takes pride in producing, filming, and editing all of his own content.
Goss's main focus is on subtle touch-ups and a natural make-up look to hide blemishes and aging.
Some of his most watched videos have included the likes of replicating the make-up routines of high-profile celebrities, reviews of trending make-up products, and ‘how-to’ videos, focusing specifically on contouring, eye make-up and blending.
The YouTube star is completely self-taught, mastering his craft by reading make-up books written by contemporary artists Way Bandy and Kevyn Aucoin, before he then moved to London to train professionally as a make-up artist.
Earlier this year, Wayne launched his first line of make-up brushes on his website, which sold out almost instantly, and has more upcoming launches this year.
The brushes, named ‘The First Edition Collection Brushes’ come in a range of shapes and sizes, suited to different make-up techniques.
“I had really bad acne in my twenties so I started experimenting with hiding blemishes," Wayne said.
"By doing this, I started to get really fascinated as to what make-up could actually do for people.
"I like to portray the idea that make-up shouldn’t be seen on someone, so I tend to stick with natural palettes and light coverage, similar to bridal make-up, as opposed to Hollywood glam.”
“I know how daunting it can be these days with hundreds of products on the shelves.
"I continue with my YouTube channel as I hope my videos offer advice and tips for those either just starting to experiment with make-up, or for those who are unsure on how to try certain techniques, such as blending an eyeshadow.”
