TRIBUTES are being paid by the Bridgwater Pantomime Society to their last founding member who recently passed away.

Grace Good sadly died at age 97-years-old on Wednesday, February 7, just weeks after this year's annual pantomime, Aladdin.

Grace founded the group alongside her beloved husband Harry - who was the producer and director for almost 30 years, and passed away 39 years ago - along with Alderman Oscar Coate, Peter Summerhayes, and others in 1957.

During her almost 70 years in the society, Grace worked as the wardrobe mistress, publicity officer, and was in charge of calls.

Keith and Margaret Robinson, producers/directors of the group said: "Grace was so involved and a big part of the Bridgwater Pantomime Society for many years.

"Without the founder members putting in the hard work for so many years, the Pantomime Society wouldn’t be the popular local theatre institution it is today.

Grace's funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 27 from 2pm at Sedgemoor Crematorium.

Guests are asked to wear something purple in honour of her love of the fun things in life, including her trademark purple hair.

Her daughter and son in law, Tina and Colin Heath, said: “We hope it will be fitting way to help celebrate the long life of a stalwart of local theatre in Bridgwater.

"Grace was a loving mum, grandmother, and great grandmother and very much fun loving lady, who touched the hearts and minds of so many in Bridgwater and beyond”. 

The annual Bridgwater pantomime has been a tradition for years in the town, and many families look forward to watching it every January.

The pantomime has always served as a springboard for many young people to kickstart their love of theatre, with many stepping onto the stage for the first time in Bridgwater - some of whom have gone on to lead a career in acting.
