Young creatives in Somerset are being invited to submit their ideas for a new digital art commission.
The initiative is courtesy of charity Somerset Film with the support of Arts Council England.
It presents an opportunity for an artist aged under 20 to receive the necessary funding and access to materials to help materialise their new artwork.
The award is a tribute to the late Robert Richards, who served as chair of trustees for the charity for more than two decades and held an ardent passion for supporting emerging talent.
Mr. Richards was a familiar face in Somerset, known for his work as a trustee for Glastonbury Abbey and his role at Glastonbury Festival.
Creative director Deb Richardson said: "We’re really interested in work that is inspired by or reflects life in Somerset or that explores the Climate Crisis and by digital art we mean any creative work that uses digital technology either as part of the making process or how the work is presented.
"So that could include poster, gif, 3D sculpture, photograph, sound installation, dance for camera work, computer game or music video.
"We know there are a lot of talented young people living in this county and we’re excited to see what ideas are submitted."
The victorious artists will win £300 in cash, with an extra £200 made available for paying for materials, performers, or access to software.
The produced artwork will also be displayed publicly at The Engine Room in Bridgwater.
Interested applicants can seek out further details about the application process from www.somersetfilm.com/community.
The deadline for applications is February 16.
