A YOUNGSTER from Bridgwater is taking on a challenge for charity.

India-le Simmons, aged nine, is a pupil at Bridgwater College Academy and is having her hair shaved for Macmillan Cancer Support.

India-le is braving the shave on July 22 at her local youth club, roller coaster, where her dad, Dean, is a a youth worker.

India-le said: "I have chosen to do this because I feel a little thing like shaving my head is not the biggest thing in the world but can mean so much to some one else.

"I would also like to donate my hair so some one can make a wig for some one who has lost there hair."

The youngster has also come up with other fundraising ideas.

Her dad, Dean Simmons, said: "Later in the year India-le is working towards a couple more fundraisers she has thought of.

"She'd like to do a sponsored walk for 14 miles along the Taunton and Bridgwater canal in aid of people who cant walk, plus a sponsored 24 silence in aid of people who are deaf.

"She also suggested a sponsored hike up Mount Snowdon this summer in aid of the children's unit at Musgrove Park hospital.

"India-le has approached me herself with all these ideas and she is a very thoughtful young lady who has a massive heart."
