A RESOURCE for people interested in fostering or adoption in Somerset has received thousands of views since its launch.

There have been over 30,000 page views of Somerset County Council’s new-look website - fosteradoptsomerset.org.uk - for prospective foster carers and adopters, since it went live on January 20.

The website features a series of films of foster carers and adopters, which show them talking about their experiences and giving an insight into their worlds.

It also offers:

• An easy-to-follow online quiz, offering initial guidance as to whether you are in a position to foster or adopt with Somerset County Council

• A free information booklet, which you can either download from the website, or request that it is sent to you in the post

• Lots of comprehensive information about fostering and adoption, and the different kinds of foster care and adoption schemes

Cllr Frances Nicholson, cabinet member for children and families at Somerset County Council, said: “I can highly recommend to anyone thinking about either path, that they should spend some time looking at our website. It’s very easy to navigate, holds a wealth of information, and if there is anything else you need, you can simply contact a member of the team.”

Somerset County Council is looking for people with space in their lives to foster an older child or teenager.

There is also a need for foster carers who can look after siblings, offer long-term permanent placements, short breaks for children with disabilities, and parent-and child foster placements.
