PARTS of the UK have been issued Level 3 orange weather warnings by the Met Office for severe cold weather, icy conditions and heavy snow.
According to the Met Office, an orange alert means that the weather heading towards the UK at midday today could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt delivery services.
Somerset has been put on yellow alert (Level 2) meaning that there is a 60% chance of freezing conditions.
The weather forecast for today is cold and windy with sunny spells and wintry showers.
Snow showers are most likely to appear on the hills and Moors.
