DOG owners in Bridgwater will be able to have their pets chipped for free, thanks to a new council scheme.
As of April 2016 all dogs will be required to have a microchip by law which has prompted Sedgemoor District Council, in association with the Dogs’ Trust, to offering free microchipping.
Micro-chipping is now recognised as the most effective and secure way of permanently identifying a dog meaning if dog wardens find a lost dog that has a microchip they can contact the national database to find the owner’s details.
Sedgemoor’s dog wardens will be chipping in Sydenham Community Centre for Chipping on Wednesday, December 3, between 9.30am to 12.30pm.
For further information, contact the dog warden service on 01278-435210.
